which is not similar to my earlier films

Meena is always in the limelight. If she is
not creating news in Kollywood then in Malluwood she is the hot
favorite. Her film Udayannu Tharam with Mohanlal is a bumper hit
and she has more films coming from God''''s own country. Now she
has been signed to do Sneha''''s role in the Kannada remake of Autograph.
In Tamil she has a film opposite Sathyaraj. She speaks about her
career.
Your career graph over a period of
time as a consistent actress shows that offlate in Tamil you have
a long interval. Why? Not all films are clicking, only a few
films are making money. Many of the big banners are not in business.
Producers are not willing to produce any more mega-budget films.
Previously on an average 100 films would be released in a year but
now it is barely 40 to 50 films. So as an artiste one has to be
very careful in choosing her role. I would like to do one good film
a year.It takes time for a good role to come your way. That's one
of the reason for the time gap. Apart from this when I am working
for another language film it will seem like a big gap to Tamil filmdom.
Otherwise I am busy always. I am doing films all the time.
Media reports say that your parents are looking
for a groom. What would be your idea of an 'ideal man'? (Laughs) Honestly nobody in the house has thought
about marriage yet. My ideal man should be understanding, hard-working,
faithful and honest. I know it is a tall demand because being faithful
and honest is difficult to find in men of today. The day I find
some one , I will definitely let the whole world know about it.
You
are doing quite a number of Malayalam films now ? I act in Malayalam and Kannada films when I
am comfortable with the unit, the banner and the script . I have
done seven films with Mohanlal and all of them have been hits. I
dont do Malayalam films at a stretch. The script of Udayannu Tharam
was very interesting. I had a role of an actress and the whole subject
was handled in a sober way. I may do one or two Malayalam and Kannada
films in a year. It is has always been so earlier too and it is
still the same. I try to focus more on Telugu and Tamil films.
Looking at your career graph you seem to be
giving a mix of performance and glamour as well surprise your fans
with even an item number. Is it planned or just incidental? I don't want to be stereotyped or branded. You
have to try hard to break the mould you are cast into whether you
like it or not. Sometimes when well-wishers and friends ask you
to accept a role then you do it for their sake. You wouldn't have
the heart to give a negative answer to friends and people who have
made me what I am today. That is how I land up in the item number.
Most of the time I wait it out to choose the roles. As an actress
I prefer to do roles which is not similar to my earlier films. Since
I do other languages I get the chance to choose and pick the best.
