happy

P Vasu is a happy man. Chandramukhi has emerged
the winner in the Tamil New years race. He speaks about Chandramukhi
which is his 50th film and marks his 25th year in filmdom. Excerpts
from the film.
About Chandramukhi: My first aim while directing a film is that
the producer should be happy and then the distributor and later
the artistes. On these three counts I am happy. In fact Rajni’s
praise was more than what I expected.. Personally as a director
I am satisfied. If the producer- actor- director are satisfied then
the film will be a hit.
Were you tensed up since you were directing
Rajnikant after Baba? For me every film is like my first film.
I treat every film with the same seriousness irrespective of whether
the hero is big or small. The difference in Chandramukhi is that
the film is devoid of mother- sister sentiment or action. This is
a comedy film with only two fights.
You
have not directed Kamal Haasan so far? In fact the first close friend in filmdom was
Kamal Haasan. I was assistant to Sridhar during the making of Ilamai
oonjaladuthey . As an assistant director I got friendly with Kamal.
I was to direct him for Sivaji films but it did not happen and finally
they produced Kalaignan. Similarly I was to direct Kamal for AVM
but that too did not happen and instead I did Sethupathi IPS for
AVM.
Your next film? Aapthmitra in Kannada is still running to full
houses. So I am planing to do one more film with Vishnuvardhan in
Kannada.
