After a series of action movies, actor Srikanth
now turns to his favourite - a romantic hero, in his next film Kanaa
Kanden, being produced by Thenappan and directed by national award
winner cinematographer-turned-director K V Anand.
Srikanth plays a young scientist engaged in the conversion of sea
water to drinking water. When met on the sets of Kanaa Kanden the
actor said, "I tried action movies for the past one year, and
now have decided to switch back to romance with this film which
has a different subject. This film will certainly help me re-establish
my place in the industry". Gopika plays Srikanth's love interest.
Gopika has taken to a glamour role in the movie.
After making a mark in Malayalam industry, Prithiviraj, son of yesteryear
Malayalam actor Sukumaran is entering Tamil. He plays a negative
role. "It was director K V Anand who selected me for this role.
He has seen my photographs earlier and felt that I would fit the
role and I also feel this film is a good launching pad for me in
Tamil". What difference does the actor see between Tamil and
Malayalam? "Nothing much, except the language. The working
pattern is the same", feels the actor.
K V Anand says, "All the credit should go to producer Thenappan,
who gave me enough liberty and encouraged me to give my best on
the screen. The film has shaped up very well. Srikanth, Gopika and
Prithviraj have done justice to their roles."
"The real hero of the movie is music composer Vidhyasagar.
Songs are already a hit. His melodious tunes would certainly add
strength to the movie. Cinematographer Soundararajan and choreographer
Shanthi too have done a commendable job," the director adds.
Vivek provides comedy. Other supporting cast includes Suresh, Ratthan,
Vanitha, Geethalakshmi, Amitha, Lavanya, Shalini and Hema. A major
portion of the movie was shot in a huge factory set put up on the
beach shore near Uthandi. Produced by Raj Lakshmi Film (P) Ltd,
Kanaa Kanden will hit the cinema halls during mid May.
