After a decent debut in Azhagiya Theeyae, director
Radha Mohan comes up with the quaintly Ponniyin Selvan --- a name
immortalized in Tamil literature by Kalki's magnum opus in the same
name.
But this Ponniyin Selvan has nothing to do with the literary classic.
Being produced by A M Rathnam, the movie stars his son Ravi Krishna
in the lead role. Gopika plays his ladylove.
It's a movie about a youth struck with an inferiority complex, who
loses all his confidence to come up in life.
However, he comes across a bunch of people and his encounter with
them instills confidence in his mind to fight and succeed.
According to Ravi Krishna, the movie has been shaping well. "I
play a youth bugged by inferiority complex.
On the lines of the one I got to do in 7 G Rainbow Colony. Radha
Mohan has been a remarkable director who gets the best out of his
artistes.
Unlike my earlier movies, I have more scope to perform in this movie".
Radha Mohan says the movie is an emotional drama of a youth who
runs from pillar to post to achieve his goal.
Gopika, who is a busy actress in Kollywood today was impressed with
the story and immediately gave her nod to play the heroine in the
movie She says quite unlike in other Tamil movies, the scope for
the heroine to perform is more in Ponniyin Selvan.
Being produced in a grand manner by A M rathnam, Ponniyin Selvan
also stars veteran actress Revathy playing Ravikrishna's mother.
An emotional melodrama, carrying a positive message, will certainly
elicit a positive response from the public and youths in particular,
says director Radha Mohan.
